Important Update Regarding your Rights as an IAABO Board 42 – Bronx/Manhattan members.
Hello Members,
I would like to provide an update regarding IAABO Board 42 – Bronx/Manhattan.
Please understand that IAABO Board 42 is not an assigning board for the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) or any other basketball league or organization.
Members of IAABO Board 42 operate as independent contractors or sole proprietors of their own businesses, using their respective Social Security numbers or Employer Identification Numbers (EINs) for payment purposes, as applicable.
As independent contractors, officials generally have the ability to decide which organizations they wish to work with and whether to accept officiating assignments, subject to any applicable agreements or requirements.
With that being said, my recommendation to IAABO Board 42 members is straightforward: If you are dissatisfied with the working conditions or policies of an organization, you should carefully consider whether continuing to work with that organization. Every official should make informed decisions about where they choose to officiate.
Thank you for your continued commitment to the development and professionalism of basketball officiating.
Sincerely,
Bernard Bowen Sr.
